There’s something about May that makes everything feel fresh and full of possibility—and that’s definitely true around here at Blue Ridge Quilt Co. This month is bringing some exciting changes, both behind the scenes and in the shop, and I’m thrilled to share a few updates with you.
🎉 Welcoming Gail to the Studio
First up: I’ve officially welcomed Gail to the team! Some of you might recognize her—she was the very first new quilting client I worked with after moving into the Riverside location last spring. Since then, Gail has been a steady cheerleader and supporter of the shop, and I couldn’t be happier to have her helping with order fulfillment and studio tasks. Her help is already making a big difference.
✂️ Expanding Into a Classroom & Community Space
In other exciting news, I’ve convinced JW to let me take over more of our warehouse space—and I’m using it to create a small classroom and community sewing area. If you know me, you know how important the community side of quilting is to me personally. This space will give us room to host classes, open sew days, and casual gatherings for quilters of all kinds.
I’m still working out the details, but I hope to have it open soon. If you have ideas for the kinds of events or classes you’d like to see, I’d love to hear them!
✨ Ruby Star Bundles on Sale
To celebrate the season (and maybe to make a little space for what’s coming next), I’ve marked down a bunch of Ruby Star Society bundles in the shop. There are fat quarter bundles, half yard cuts, and curated kits available—all from some of my favorite designers. If you’ve had your eye on one, this is a great time to grab it.
🧵 Longarm Quilting Update
This month, I also made a small change to my longarm quilting pricing. Many of my edge-to-edge designs remain at 2¢ per square inch, but some of the more dense or complex pantographs have increased to 3¢ or 4¢. I’m in the process of updating my website to list each design’s pricing, and as always, I’ll confirm everything with you before quilting begins.
If you’ve been sitting on a finished top, I recommend getting it into the queue soon—summer is my busiest season for longarm quilting, and turnaround times do lengthen a bit this time of year.
👉 Moda Blockheads 6 Begins May 21st
Lastly, if you’re the kind of quilter who likes a fun sew-along, Moda Blockheads 6 begins on May 21st, and I’ll be participating this year! I’ll be sharing my blocks each week and am even thinking about ways to incorporate Blockheads into the new classroom space once it’s ready—maybe through open sewing days or meetups for those of us stitching along.
If you’d like to join too, you can find the schedule and block releases on the Moda Blockheads website.
Thanks for reading and for being part of the Blue Ridge Quilt Co. community. Whether you’re shopping, quilting, or just following along for inspiration, I’m grateful you’re here.
Until next month,
