Class & Workshop Policies

Welcome! We’re so glad you’re joining us for classes and workshops at Blue Ridge Quilt Co. Please review our policies carefully. They’re designed to keep things smooth, fair, and safe for everyone.

Registration & Payment

  • Class and workshop registrations are confirmed when payment in full is received.

  • Each person planning to attend a class or workshop must purchase their own seat.

  • Your spot is reserved once you receive a confirmation email.

  • If you register and then need to cancel, please see our Cancellation & Transfers policy below.

Cancellation & Transfers

  • Cancellations made more than 14 days before the class may be transferred to another class or receive shop credit (minus any processing fees).

  • Cancellations made within 14 days of the class may be eligible for a shop credit only, at our discretion.

  • Class credits may be used toward future classes or purchases.

  • No cash refunds will be issued for class cancellations unless required by law.

Arrival & Attendance

  • Please arrive on time — classes start promptly at the scheduled time.

  • Students who arrive more than 15 minutes after the class start time may not be admitted.

  • If you arrive late and are unable to join the class, we unfortunately cannot provide a store credit or refund for the missed session.

Class & Workshop Conduct

  • We strive to create a welcoming, respectful environment for all participants.

  • Please follow all safety instructions provided by instructors.

  • Disruptive behavior may result in removal from the class without refund or credit.

Materials, Supplies & Kits

  • Supply lists are provided with class descriptions. Please review them carefully before attending.

  • Some classes include a kit fee. Kit fees are non-refundable once materials have been prepared.

  • For classes requiring pattern printing or pre-cut materials, please check your kit or print order prior to class.

Use of Shop Machines & Equipment

  • We ask that you only use the bobbin provided in our sewing machines and leave it behind when finished. Bobbins are not universal and are not readily interchangeable.

Please leave your workspace as you found it. This includes:

  • Returning any tools used to their storage space

  • Picking up dropped pins

  • Leaving the bobbin with the machine

  • Unplugging any irons

  • If you choose to bring your own sewing machine, you are responsible for any supplies or materials necessary for your machine to work properly.

  • Blue Ridge Quilt Co. is not responsible for the maintenance or repair of personal sewing machines.

Personal Belongings

  • We are not responsible for personal items left behind.

  • Please be sure to pack all of your belongings before you leave.

Safety & Liability Waiver

By participating in our classes, workshops, or programs, you acknowledge that crafting involves tools such as sewing machines, irons, needles, scissors, rotary cutters, and other equipment that carry inherent risks of injury.

You agree to release and hold harmless Blue Ridge Quilt Co., its instructors, employees, and contractors from any claims or liability related to accidents or injuries that may occur during classes, workshops, or events.

You also consent to first aid or medical treatment if needed.

Weather & Safety Policy

Your safety is our priority. We understand that no sewing class is worth risking dangerous road conditions.

Class Cancellation Due to Weather

If Blue Ridge Quilt Co. cancels a class or workshop due to weather, we will:

Reschedule the class for the earliest possible date that works for the instructor and the shop, and

  • Notify registrants as soon as possible with the new date.

Your Responsibility

  • It is the participant’s responsibility to decide whether road and travel conditions are safe for them.

  • We have no insight into road conditions outside of our immediate area, and we cannot make decisions on behalf of participants who live elsewhere.

If You Cannot Attend the Rescheduled Date

  • If you are unable to attend the rescheduled class due to weather or other circumstances, we’ll happily work with you to issue a shop credit that can be used toward another class or purchase.

  • Shop credits will be issued for the class fee only and may be applied to future classes or purchases at Blue Ridge Quilt Co.

Important: Choosing to miss a class due to adverse weather is always valid — we will work with you on shop credit.

Teacher Substitutions & Changes

  • Occasionally instructors must cancel or be replaced due to circumstances beyond our control.

  • Blue Ridge Quilt Co. reserves the right to substitute instructors or change workshop materials as needed.

  • If a workshop is canceled by the shop, you will receive either a class credit or a refund at BRQC’s discretion.

Using Shop Credit

  • Shop credit can be applied toward classes or merchandise at Blue Ridge Quilt Co.

  • Shop credit does not expire but is non-refundable and non-transferable.

  • Please present your shop credit code at checkout.

Photography & Media

  • Photos and videos may be taken during classes and events for promotional use.

  • By attending, you grant Blue Ridge Quilt Co. permission to use images or video of you for marketing, unless you notify us in writing.
